Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known non-official holiday. It became an official federal holiday in the late 1870s. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.

Meteors and storms

The Lupercalia was a popular holiday in ancient Rome. In February, in the middle, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was held. Priests offered animal sacrifices close to the altar of Lapis Negiger during this ritual. The animal’s blood was dumped into the hearth. The protection and fertility of blood is believed to be beneficial to the grain fields.

Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held in honour of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to the year 202 BC.

Neptunalia was among the most well-known Roman celebrations. They were celebrated originally in honor of Mars, a god of war.

Roman working weeks were eight days long. There were two phases to each day, the morning and the afternoon. A nundin was an eight-day collection, with the rest of the year being comprised of 29 days.
