Presidents Daylight that falls on the third Monday in February, is considered to be to be a national holiday. It is a celebration of the presidents who have gone before us. The Presidents’ Day holiday was traditionally a day to honor Lincoln and Washington.
While it is a federal holiday not all states observe it. Certain states honor both presidents simultaneously, whereas others only recognize one. The Presidents Day holiday is an occasion to celebrate the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
The story of Presidents’ Day is complicated. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the holiday. It is now Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known unofficial holiday. In the late 1870s, it became a national holiday. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteor showers
Each year, Earth’s orbit revolves around the sun. A stream of tiny meteors explodes into space. They are visible everywhere in the sky. Some showers are more stunning than others. The best time to watch.
Perseids are among the most powerful and beautiful meteor showers of the year. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle is responsible for. The belief was that this would benefit the grain crops by ensuring fertility and also protecting the crops from damage.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration which was celebrated to honor Ceres the goddess of harvest. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented.
Other famous Roman festivities include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. They were celebrated originally to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. Every day was divided into two parts: the morning or the afternoon. Nundin was an 8-day collection, the rest of the year made up of 29 days.
