Presidents Daylight (third Monday of February) is a holiday that is celebrated across the nation. The holiday honors the previous American presidents. It has been a day to honor both Lincoln and Washington.
While it’s an official holiday of the United States however, not all states observe it. Certain states observe both birthdays of the presidents on the exact same day while other states may only recognize one. However, Presidents’ Day is now widely accepted as a way to recognize the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.

The Lupercalia celebration was very well-known in the ancient city of Rome. A ritual of cleansing and fertility was held in mid February. Priests offered animal sacrifices near the altar of the Lapis Negiger during this ritual. The hearth was saturated with the animal’s blood. It was believed to be beneficial to the fertility of the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented as far back as the year 202 BC.
Other famous Roman festivities include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. The celebrations were initially planned to pay tribute to Mars as the god of war.
The Roman workweek was eight days long. There were two periods of each day: the morning and the afternoon. A nundin was a collection consisting of eight days. The remaining 29 days made up the remainder of the calendar year.
