February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and love every February 14. The celebration’s roots can be traced to the Middle Ages when courtly love and sacraments were common.

Groundhog Day is celebrated annually on February 2. It’s also a well-known holiday in Canada, but Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
The celebration originated from an old-fashioned belief system that was rooted in Pennsylvanians from the Dutch. However, the practice of making weather predictions came to the United States with German immigration. PunxsutawneyPhil, a Pennsylvania groundhog makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
When scientists discovered that mice hibernate during winter, they laid the foundation for this custom. It was planned to predict the six weeks ahead by studying how animals react to the weather.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae group of small hairy mammals. It hibernates throughout the winter months. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are often seen peeking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
On the third Monday in February the President’s Daylight is recognized as a national holiday. It’s an honor to all past American presidents. It is a day that is dedicated to the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and it has been Presidents Day since the beginning of its existence.
While it is a federal holiday not every state observes this holiday. Certain states honor both presidents, whereas other states are limited to only one. Although Presidents’ day is now standard this holiday allows us to remember all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
There is a long and complicated story behind Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the first title of the celebration.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly referred to as Washington’s Day, is an unofficial holiday that is well-known. In the 1870s however it was declared an official holiday recognized by the federal government. In response, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteor storms
Each year it is observed that the Earth revolves around the sun. This results in a flood of small meteors that are released into space. They can appear anywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular than others. The best time for viewing them is in the evening.
One of the largest and most stunning meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the primary cause. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the most intense fireballs and astrophysical activity, it’s also worth to see from that region.
Every year, there are four major meteor showers. Number one is the Quadrantid. Its brief but massive peak is what makes it the most well-known. Another one is the Lyrid. It’s famous for its irregular surges. A Geminid is well-known for being approachable.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was among the most well-liked holidays in ancient Rome. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was held in the middle of February. In this ceremony it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on an altar beside the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was then emptied of the blood of the animal. The protection and fertility of the blood was believed to be beneficial to the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to the year 202 BC.
