The Sciuridae family of small hairy mammals includes groundhogs. It hibernates throughout winter. Groundhog Day mornings are a perfect time to see them peering from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is recognized as a national holiday. It celebrates the past American presidents. Presidents’ Day has traditionally been a time to celebrate both Washington and Lincoln.
Even though it is an official holiday, many states don’t observe it. Certain states honor both presidents simultaneously, whereas some only honor one president. But, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a means of honoring all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
The history of Presidents’ Day is complicated. Washington’s Birthday was the first name for the holiday and is now known as Presidents’ Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly referred to as Washington’s Day, is an unofficial holiday that is well-known. In the late 1870s, it became a federal holiday. In the end, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Each year, Earth’s orbit rotates around sun. Small, tiny meteors are released into space. They can appear anywhere in the sky. Some showers are more spectacular than others. Nighttime is often the best time for watching.
One of the largest and most spectacular meteor showers in the world is the Perseids. This is due to the fact that the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the primary cause. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere. But, because the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most impressive fireworks, it is only natural to also observe the phenomenon from there.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky every year. The Quadrantid is the most prominent because of its powerful but brief maximum. Another is the Lyrid which is famous for its unique surges. Additionally the Geminid is famous for its approachable appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia is one of the most well-known holidays of the ancient city of Rome. In the middle of February the fertility and cleansing ceremony was held. The priests offered animal sacrifices to an altar in front of the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was emptied of blood from the animal. The fields of grain were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration that was held in honor Ceres the harvest goddess. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations were recorded.
Other well-known Roman festivities are Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. The celebrations were initially planned to honor Mars as the god of war.
Roman working weeks had eight days. Every day was divided into two parts: morning or the afternoon. Nundin was an eight-day collection, with the remainder of the year comprised of 29 days.
