March 2023 Calendar Holiday – Many enjoyable holidays are planned for February, and they are observed during the month. A few examples include Valentine’s Day or Groundhog Day Presidents Day, Groundhog Day or meteor showers. There are also many ancient Roman celebrations that occur on various days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and love every February 14. The Middle Ages were a time where love was a common occurrence and sacraments were more common.
It was believed to be a day of celebration that celebrated romance between romantic partners and close friends from the 14th century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to one another.
In the early 19th century, commercial card were made easily available. The demand for postcards printed in bulk was also increasing. These postcards were also sought-after in shops because they were able to be displayed in themed designs.
Valentine’s Day traditions include buying your special someone a candy or chocolate present along with a card or flower. It is also possible to give them jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. Although it is a popular holiday in Canada but Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
The festival was conceived of as a superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. The practice of forecasting weather was brought to the United States through German immigrants. Punxsutawney Philip is one of the Pennsylvania groundhog, provides meteorological forecasts throughout the rest of winter.
The story began when researchers discovered a mouse that hibernated throughout the winter. The idea was to predict the next six weeks of the season using observations about the way that animals reacted.
Groundhogs are part the Sciuridae family of tiny hairy mammals. In winter, their main purpose is to stay in hibernation. Groundhog Day is the most frequent day that they are seen looking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is recognized as a national holiday. It pays tribute to the previous American presidents. It is a day which honors the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and is Presidents’ Day since its inception.
Although it’s an annual holiday of the United States, some states do not observe it. Certain states honor both presidents simultaneously, whereas others only recognize one. The Presidents Day holiday is an opportunity to remember the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
Presidents’ Day has a convoluted past. Washington’s Birthday was the first reason for the name of this celebration.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly referred to as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. It was declared an official holiday of the United States Congress in the latter 1870s. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was enacted by Congress.
Meteor showers
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They are visible almost everywhere in the sky. Some showers are more impressive than others. It is generally the nighttime time to watch.
One of the biggest and most stunning meteor showers in the world is the Perseids. It is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was responsible. It will be visible only from the Northern Hemisphere. However, since the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rates, it’s worth looking from there.
Four meteor showers of significance occur every year. The Quadrantid is the most prominent due to its strong but brief peak. Another notable for its unique surges is the Lyrid. The Geminid is renowned for its sexy appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was a popular festival in ancient Rome. A ritual of cleansing and fertility was observed in February. Priests offered animal sacrifices at the altar to the Lapis Nuiger during the ceremony. The hearth was saturated with blood of the animal. It was believed that the hearth would provide fertility and security for the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration in honor Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented as far back as the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia as well as Saturnalia were some other well-known Roman festivals. These celebrations were originally planned to pay tribute to Mars and the god of war.
Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. Each day consisted of two parts: the morning or afternoon. The nundin was a collection of eight days. the remaining 29 days made up the rest of the year.
