February 14th
Valentine’s Day is an annual holiday that celebrates love, affection and celebration on February 14th. The Middle Ages were a time when love was commonplace , and ceremonies were more widespread.
It was believed to be a celebration of friendship between romantically engaged acquaintances from the 14th century. Valentine’s Day is a time to give Valentine’s Day gifts and flowers.
In the 19th century’s early years commercial cards were made easily available. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk was also increasing. These cards were popularized in shops as displays of themed designs.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition which includes the gift of candy or chocolate along with a card and flowers. It is also possible to present jewelry.

Groundhog Day, which is observed every February 2, is an annual event. Groundhog Day is celebrated every year in Canada on February 2.
The celebration originated from a belief system that was popular that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. However, Americans gained the tradition of predicting weather forecasts from German immigrants. Punxsutawney Philip is a Pennsylvania groundhog, gives meteorological forecasts throughout the rest of the winter.
When scientists discovered that mice hibernate during winter, they established the basis for this practice. The goal was to forecast the weather conditions for the remaining six weeks, by observing how animals respond to it.
The Sciuridae family of small hairy mammals includes groundhogs. They hibernate in winter. Groundhog Day is a common day when they can be observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is an official holiday for the United States of America. It’s an honor to all past American presidents. It is a holiday that honors the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents Day since the beginning of its existence.
Despite being an official holiday of the United States however, not all states observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, but some states only recognize one. But, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a way to recognize the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There is a long and complicated story that explains Presidents Day. The Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official title.
Washington’s birthday is an incredibly well-known and unofficial holiday, also known as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s, however it was declared a federally recognized holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was approved by Congress.
Meteor showers
Every year it is the time when the Earth is in circle around the sun causing a torrent of small meteors to explode into space. They are visible in the sky and are everywhere. Certain showers are more impressive than others. Nighttime is often the best time to watch.
Perseids are among the most spectacular and stunning meteor shower of the year. It is likely that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle is the cause. It will be visible only from the Northern Hemisphere. However, because the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rates, it’s worthwhile checking out from there.
Four major meteor showers take place each year. The Quadrantid 1 is famous for its powerful but brief peak. Another is the Lyrid. It’s known for its odd surges. The Geminid is also well-known for its warm appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was one of the most popular holidays of ancient Rome. In February, a fertility-cleansing ceremony was performed. Priests offered sacrifices of animals near the altar of Lapis Negiger in this ceremony. The hearth was filled with the blood of the animal. The fertility and protection of the blood was believed to have been beneficial to the grain field.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held to honor of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented back to the year 202 BC.
Other famous Roman celebrations include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. These celebrations were originally intended to pay tribute to Mars, the god war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. Each day consisted of two parts: morning or the afternoon. A nundin was eight days long. The remaining 29 days were called the rest.
