It was considered to be an occasion to celebrate friendship between romantically engaged people from the fourteenth century. It was common to send Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to one another.
Commercial cards were made available from the beginning of the 19th century. In addition, postcards printed in large quantities gained popularity. These cards were then displayed in stores as themed displays.

Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. Although it is a popular holiday in Canada the Thanksgiving holiday is an American holiday.
This celebration was born out an ancient belief that originated among Pennsylvanians from the Dutch. The tradition of forecasting weather was brought to America by German immigrants. Punxsutawney Phil is a groundhog native to Pennsylvania provides meteorological predictions for the rest of the winter.
The practice was first introduced when scientists discovered an animal that was hibernating during winter. It was planned to predict the six weeks ahead by studying the way animals react to weather conditions.
The Sciuridae family of tiny hairy mammals also includes groundhogs. In winter, their principal objective is to go into hibernation. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are frequently spotted peering out from their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday in February) is a federal holiday. It is an honor to all past American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day has been a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
It’s a federal holiday that not all states observe despite being one. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of the presidents on the same day . Other states might only celebrate one. The Presidents’ Day holiday is widely regarded as an opportunity to recognize all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The history of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday was the first reason for the name of this celebration.
A well-known unofficial holiday was Washington’s birthday, often referred to as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s, however, it became a federally recognized holiday. In response, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteors hurling storms
Every year, the Earth’s orbit revolves around the sun. Small, tiny meteors explodes into space. They are visible in the sky and are all over the sky. Some showers are more spectacular than others. It is ideal to see the showers at night.
Perseids is one of most spectacular and stunning meteor showers in 2018. It is possible that the Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle is responsible. It will be visible from Northern Hemisphere. But, since the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most impressive fireworks, it is only natural to also observe the phenomenon from there.
Every year there are four important meteor showers. The first is Quadrantid. Its short , but strong peak is the one that is the most well-known. Another famous for its strange spikes is the Lyrid. Additionally, the Geminid is renowned for its sexy appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman holiday that was loved by many. A fertility and cleansing ceremony were held in the middle February. Priests offered sacrifices of animals at the altar to the Lapis Nuiger at the time of the ceremony. The hearth was stuffed with blood of the animal. The belief was that it would be beneficial for fertility and protection of the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first recorded in 202 BC.
Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were a few other well-known Roman celebrations. They were initially held in honor of Mars, the god of war.Vestalia According to some experts is the most popular of the three.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two parts to every day: the morning and the afternoon. A nundin was a collection of eight days, while the other 29 days comprised the remainder of the year.
