Roman holidays from antiquity

The Lupercalia was a Roman holiday that was loved by many. A fertility and cleansing ceremony were held in the middle February. Priests offered sacrifices of animals at the altar to the Lapis Nuiger at the time of the ceremony. The hearth was stuffed with blood of the animal. The belief was that it would be beneficial for fertility and protection of the fields of grain.
