Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae which is a tiny family of mammals that have hair. In winter, their primary objective is to hibernate. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are frequently spotted peering out from their burrows.

Neptunalia and Saturnalia were some other well-known Roman festivals. These celebrations were originally meant to pay tribute to Mars the god of war.

Roman workweeks were eight days long. Every day consisted of two parts: the morning, and the afternoon. The nundin lasted eight days. The rest of the year was made up by the remaining 29 days.
