On the third Monday of February the President’s Daylight is recognized as a national holiday. It pays tribute past American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday served as a day of celebration for both Lincoln and Washington.
While it’s a federal holiday however, not all states observe it. While some states recognize both presidents birthdays on the exact same day as others, other states only recognize one. The Presidents Day holiday is an opportunity to remember the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
The origins of the Presidents’ Day holiday is complex. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the day’s celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official title.
Washington’s Birthday, commonly known as Washington’s Day, is an not a holiday recognized by the government but is widely known. However, it was recognized as a federal holiday in the late 1870s. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed by Congress.

During the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices to an altar near the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was filled with the blood of the animal. The fertility and protection of the blood was believed to be beneficial to the field of grain.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration that was held in honor Ceres the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Other famous Roman celebrations include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. They were held originally in honor of Mars, the god of war.Vestalia According to certain experts is the most popular among the three.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. There were two periods to every day: the morning and the afternoon. A nundin was eight days long. The remaining 29 days were called the rest of the days.
