February 14th
Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love and passion which is celebrated every the 14th of February every year. The Middle Ages were a time where love was a common occurrence and the sacraments were more popular.
It was believed to be a day of celebration that celebrated the love between romantic partners as well as close friends during the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was a day when it was customary for lovers and friends to give gifts, flowers and cards.
In the beginning of the 19th century commercial cards were widely accessible. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk was also growing. These cards were a hit in retail stores as themed displays.
Gifting your special someone a chocolate or candy present, along with an arrangement or card is a typical Valentine’s Day tradition. It is also possible to give them jewelry.

Groundhog Day is celebrated annually on February 2. Even though it is popular in Canada, Thanksgiving is a American holiday.
The celebration originated from superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch-speaking people. The tradition of forecasting weather was introduced to America through German immigrants. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who gives forecasts for the rest of winter.
The tradition was born when scientists discovered an animal that was hibernating during winter. The initial plan was to predict six weeks of the seasons by observing how animals reacted to the climate.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae which is a tiny family of mammals that have hair. In winter, their primary function is to stay in hibernation. Groundhog Day is the most common day they can be seen looking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday observed on the third Monday in February. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day been a time of celebration for both Lincoln and Washington.
It’s a federal holiday that not all states observe despite being one. Some states recognize both presidents, whereas others are only allowed to recognize one president. Presidents Day is now generally considered to be a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, especially Lincoln.
Presidents’ Day has a convoluted past. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the holiday. Today, Presidents’ day is the official title.
An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of President Washington, also called Washington’s Day. It was officially recognized as a federal holiday in the late 1870s. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Each year, the Earth is orbiting around the sun. This triggers a rush of tiny meteors which are released into space. They can appear from all directions. Some showers appear more impressive than other. It is usually best to view the showers in the evening.
The Perseids meteor shower is among the most stunning and biggest of the meteor showers. This is due to Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere. But, because the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most stunning fireballs, it is logical to be able to observe the phenomenon from that region.
There are four major meteor showers each year. The Quadrantid is the first, and is famous for its short but potent maximum. Another famous for its strange spikes is the Lyrid. The Geminid is also well-known for its warm appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia is among the most celebrated holidays in the ancient city of Rome. In the middle of February, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was celebrated. In the course of the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices to an altar close to the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was filled up with the blood of the animal. It was believed that the hearth would offer fertility and protection for the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented as far back as 202 BC.
Neptunalia was among the more well-known Roman festivities. These were originally celebrated in honor of Mars who was the god of war.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. Each day had two parts: morning or afternoon. A nundin was 8 days long. The 29 days remaining were the remainder.
