Priests offered animal sacrifices near the altar of the Lapis Negiger during this ritual. The blood of the animal was poured into the hearth. It was believed that it would be beneficial to the crop by increasing fertility and also protecting the plants from harm.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia and Saturnalia were two other well-known Roman festivals. These celebrations were originally intended to honor Mars and the god of war.
Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. Each day had two parts: morning and afternoon. The nundin lasted eight days. The remainder of the year was constituted by the remaining days.
