The custom got its start when scientists found an animal that was hibernating in winter. The aim was to predict the weather patterns for the six remaining weeks by watching how animals react to it.
Groundhogs form part of the Sciuridae family of small, hairy mammals. It is hibernates through winter. Groundhog Day is the most regular day they can be observed looking out of their burrows.

The third Monday of February is the Presidents’ Daylight. It is an official holiday for the United States of America. It is a way to honor the past presidents of America. The Presidents Day holiday been a day to honor both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s an annual holiday of the United States, several states do not observe it. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of presidents on the same day while other states may only recognize only one. Presidents Day has become a day to honor all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
There is a long and complicated story of Presidents Day. The Washington’s Birthday was the initial name for the holiday, which is now known as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, often referred to by the name Washington’s Day was a well-known non-official holiday. It became a federal holiday in late 1870s. Congress passed the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Every year, the Earth’s orbit revolves around sun. A torrent of small meteors is released into space. They can be observed everywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular than others. The best time to watch.

Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was among the most loved holidays in ancient Rome. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was held in mid February. During this rite it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on the altar next to the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was saturated with blood of the animal. It was believed that it would benefit the crop by increasing fertility and protecting the plants from harm.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to celebrate Ceres (the harvest goddess). Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first documented in the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia and Saturnalia were some other well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held to honor Mars the god of war.
The Roman workweek was 8 days long. There were two phases to every day: the morning as well as the evening. Nundin was an 8-day collection, the rest of the year comprised of 29 days.
