Researchers discovered that mice went into hibernation in winter. The idea was to predict the following six weeks of season by observing how animals responded.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae Family of small hairy mammals. They hibernate during the winter months. Groundhog Day is the most common day they can be seen looking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. It celebrates the previous American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday has been a time of celebration for both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states honor both birthdays of presidents on the same day while other states may only recognize only one. Although Presidents’ day is now standard this holiday allows us to commemorate all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
The story of the Presidents’ Day holiday is complex. The Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.
Washington’s birthday is well-known as an not officially recognized holiday, as well as Washington’s Day. It was declared a federal holiday by Congress in the late 1870s. In reaction, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.

Priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar close to the Lapis Niger during the ritual. The hearth was then cleansed of the blood of the animal. It was believed to be beneficial for fertility of the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented from 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially intended to celebrate Mars the god of War.
Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. There were two phases of each day: morning and afternoon. The nundin lasted eight days. The rest of the year was constituted by the remaining days.
