Although Presidents’ day is now standard this holiday allows us to commemorate all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.

The story of the Presidents’ Day holiday is complex. The Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.

Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented from 202 BC.

Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially intended to celebrate Mars the god of War.

Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. There were two phases of each day: morning and afternoon. The nundin lasted eight days. The rest of the year was constituted by the remaining days.
