February 14th
Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love and passion that is observed each year on February 14. The Middle Ages were a time where love was a common occurrence and sacraments were more common.
It was the day to celebrate romance between romantic friends and lovers in the fourteenth century. It was commonplace to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to each other.
In the beginning of the 19th century commercial cards were widely accessible. They gained popularity due to the growing popularity of printing postcards in large quantities. These cards were also popular in shops as they were able to be displayed in themed designs.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition which includes an assortment of candy or chocolate gifts and an arrangement of flowers and a card. You may also choose to give them jewelry.

Groundhog Day, which is observed every February 2, is an annual celebration. Although it is a popular holiday in Canada but Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
The tradition was born out of superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. The tradition of forecasting the weather was introduced in the United States through German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil, a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes forecasts for winter weather throughout the year.
When scientists discovered that mice hibernate in winter, they laid the foundation for this custom. The idea was to forecast the weather conditions for the remaining six weeks, by observing how animals respond to it.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae tribe of small hairy mammals. It hibernates during winter. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are often seen peeking out from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February is the Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. The holiday honors past American presidents. It is a day which celebrates the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents Since the day it was first introduced.
While it’s an official holiday of the United States but not every state observes the holiday in all states. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of presidents on the exact day, while some states may only recognize only one. However, Presidents’ Day is now widely accepted as a day to honor all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
The story of the Presidents’ Day holiday is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday was the initial name of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. In the late 1870s, it became a national holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was approved by Congress.

Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia was one of the most loved holidays in ancient Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony took place in the middle of February. During this rite it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on the altar alongside the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was then emptied of the blood of the animal. The protection and fertility of the blood was believed to be beneficial to the grain field.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first recorded in the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia as well as Saturnalia were some other well-known Roman festivals. They were held originally to honor Mars god of war.Vestalia, according to some academics is the most popular of the three.
