March Diversity Calendar – There are many celebrations for holidays that take place in February. They include President’s Day, Valentine’s Day as well as Groundhog Day and meteor showers. In addition, there are a myriad of ancient Roman celebrations that take place on different days.
February 14th

The practice was first introduced when scientists found an animal that was hibernating in the winter. The plan was to forecast the following six weeks of season using observations about how the animals responded.
Groundhogs belong to of the Sciuridae Family of small hairy mammals. They hibernate in winter. Groundhog Day is a common day when they can be observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday observed on the third Monday in February. It is a celebration of the previous presidents of America. It has been a day to honour both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Certain states honor both presidents simultaneously, while other states only honor one. However, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a way to recognize the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
The background of Presidents’ Day is complicated. Washington’s Birthday used to be the first name given to the day of celebration. It is now known as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known non-official holiday. In the 1870s, it became a federal holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was approved by Congress.
Storms of meteors
Every year, the Earth is orbiting around the sun. This causes a flood of tiny meteors which are released into space. They are visible everywhere. Some showers can be more striking than others. It is usually the nighttime time to watch.
The Perseids meteor shower is one of the most spectacular and most massive of meteor showers. This is due to the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. Although it is visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its large number of fireballs However, the Southern Hemisphere also has the highest visibility.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky every year. The Quadrantid, number 1, is famous for its powerful but brief peak. Another one is the Lyrid. It’s known for its odd surges. The Geminid is famous for its easygoing appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia celebration was very well-known in the ancient city of Rome. In the middle of February there was a cleansing and fertility ceremony was celebrated. Priests offered sacrifices of animals at the altar to the Lapis Nuiger at the time of the ceremony. The hearth was then emptied of blood from the animal. The fields of grain were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration that was celebrated in honor of Ceres the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. They were celebrated originally to honor Mars, a god of war.
Roman workweeks had eight days. There were two parts to each day: the morning part as well as the evening. Nundin was a collection that comprised of 8 days. The remaining 29 days made up the remainder of the calendar year.
