Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog from Pennsylvania, makes meteorological predictions for the remainder of winter.
Scientists discovered that a mouse went into hibernation during winter. The goal was to predict the next six weeks of the season by watching how animals reacted to the climate.
Groundhogs are part of Sciuridae which is a tiny family of mammals with hairy fur. It is hibernates through winter. On Groundhog Day is when they can be observed peeking out of burrows.

Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as an American holiday that falls on the third Monday of February. It honors previous American presidents. It is a day to pay tribute to both Lincoln and Washington.
While it’s a federal holiday however, not all states observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, while others only honor only one president. The Presidents Day is now a day to honor the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
There is a long and complicated story that explains Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the celebration that is now referred to as Presidents’ Day.
Washington’s Birthday, commonly known as Washington’s Day, is an unofficial holiday that is well-known. However, in the 1870s it was declared an official holiday recognized by the federal government. This led to Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors

Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman holiday that was loved by many. In February, a fertility-cleansing ceremony was conducted. Priests offered animal sacrifices at the altar for the Lapis Nuiger during the ceremony. The hearth was cleaned of the blood of the animal. The fertility and protection of blood is believed to have been beneficial to the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to celebrate Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few examples of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally meant to honor Mars the god of War.
Roman workweeks took eight days. There were two phases of every day: morning and afternoon. Nundin was a collection consisting of eight days. The remaining 29 days were the remainder of the calendar year.
