March Preschool Calendar – There are many holiday celebrations which take place during February. These include Presidents’ Day, Valentine’s Day as well as Groundhog Day and meteor showers. There are many more Roman celebrations that take place on various dates.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day, a day which celebrates love and passion, is observed annually on February 14. It can be traced to as early as the Middle Ages, when love was more prevalent than sacramental and courtly.
It was believed to be the celebration of romance between romantically connected people from the fourteenth century. Valentine’s Day was a day that was a time for lovers and friends to exchange gifts, flowers, and cards.
In the early years of the nineteenth century commercial cards were readily available. Additionally, postcards printed in large quantities gained popularity. These postcards were displayed in stores as themed displays.
Gifting your special someone with a candy or chocolate present, along with a card or flower is a classic Valentine’s Day tradition. You can also gift them jewelry.

Groundhog Day, which is celebrated every February 2 and is an annual holiday. It’s also a very popular holiday in Canada However, Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
The festival originated from a belief system in the minds of Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. The American tradition of making weather forecasts was brought to America with German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil, a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
After scientists found out that mice hibernated in winter, they established the basis for this practice. It was planned to predict the next six weeks by studying the way animals react to weather conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae which is a tiny family of hairy mammals. They hibernate throughout winter. Groundhog Day is the most regular day they can be in view from their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday in February) is a national holiday. It celebrates the former American presidents. It is a day which honors the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents Since the day it was first introduced.
Despite being an official holiday of the United States however, not all states observe the holiday in all states. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, but some states only recognize only one. The Presidents’ Day holiday is now widely accepted as a day to honor all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There is a complicated history of Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly known as Washington’s Day is a well-known not-official holiday. In the 1870s, however, it became a federally recognized holiday. In the aftermath, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteor showers
Each year each year, the Earth orbits in the solar system. This results in a flood of tiny meteors which are released into space. They can appear almost anywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. It is at night that is the most ideal moment to see them.
Perseids are among the most stunning and impressive meteor showers of the year. This is due to Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. It’s only visible from the Northern Hemisphere. However, since the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rates, it’s worthwhile looking from there.
Each year there are four important meteor showers. One of the most well-known meteor showers is the Quadrantid. This one is known for its short but very powerful peak. Another is the Lyrid. It is famous for its odd surges. Geminids are a Geminid is famous for being friendly.
Roman holidays dating to antiquity
The Lupercalia was one of the most popular holidays of the past of Rome. In the middle of February the fertility and cleansing ceremony was celebrated. Priests offered sacrifices to animals at an altar next to the Lapis Niger in the ceremony. The hearth was cleansed with the blood of the animal. The fertility and protection of blood is believed to have been beneficial to the field of grain.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Since 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented.
Neptunalia was among the most popular Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks ran for eight days. There were two periods to every day: the morning and the afternoon. The nundin lasted 8 days. The rest of the year was constituted by the remaining 29 days.
