The tradition was born when scientists discovered mice that hibernate during winter. The goal was to predict the following six weeks of the season by studying how animals responded to conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae group of hairy mammals. They are winter animals and their main function is to stay in hibernation. Groundhog Day is a common time when they can be observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday on the third Monday in February. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. It is a day that celebrates the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents Since the day it was first introduced.
Although it is an official holiday of the United States however, not all states observe it. Some states honor both birthdays of presidents on the exact day, while some states may only recognize only one. While Presidents’ Day is now common, it allows us to honor all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
The history of Presidents’ Day is complex. Washington’s Birthday used to be the original name for the day of celebration. Today, it’s called Presidents Day.
An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of Washington, which is often referred to as Washington’s Day. It was made an official holiday of the United States in the late 1870s. Congress approved the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteors and storms
Each year each year, the Earth is orbiting around the sun. This triggers a rush of tiny meteors to be released into space. They can appear anywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular than others. It is generally recommended to watch the showers in the evening.

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was among the most popular holidays of ancient Rome. A cleansing and fertility ceremony took place in the middle of February. Priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar near the Lapis Niger during the rite. The blood of the animal was poured in the hearth. It was believed to be beneficial for the fertility and protection of the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to celebrate Ceres (the harvest goddess). Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented from the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few examples of the well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held in honor of Mars, the godof war.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. There were two phases of each day: the morning part and the afternoon. Nundins were collections of eight days, while the other 29 days made up the remainder of the year.
