February 14th
Valentine’s Day (February 14th) is a day that celebrates love and affection. It is celebrated each year. The Middle Ages are the time that Valentine’s Day was first celebrated. This was the time when courtly love and sacraments were still common.
It was the day to celebrate love between romantic friends and lovers during the 14th century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to one another.
By the beginning of the 19th century commercial cards were already created. Also, the demand for the printing of postcards in bulk. They were also very well-liked in shops since they could be displayed with themes.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition which includes a chocolate or candy gift, as well a card and flowers. You could even decide to present them with jewelry.

Groundhog Day is celebrated annually on February 2. It’s also popular in Canada however it’s an American Thanksgiving.
The celebration originated from superstition that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. German immigrants introduced the practice of forecasting weather into the United States. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog that makes predictions for the rest of winter.
It all started when researchers discovered an animal that was hibernating during the winter. The idea was to predict the following six weeks of season based on observations of the way that animals reacted.
Groundhogs make up the Sciuridae group of tiny hairy mammals. They hibernate during the winter months. The morning of Groundhog Day and evening, they’re often visible peeking out of burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday of February) is a national holiday. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. It is a day that is dedicated to both Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents’ Day since its inception.
Although it’s a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states celebrate both presidents simultaneously, whereas others only recognize one. However, Presidents’ Day is widely recognized as a time to celebrate the achievements of all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
There’s a rich history that explains Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the first reason for the name for this holiday.
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. It was declared an official federal holiday in the late 1870s. As a result, Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Every year, the Earth is orbiting around the sun. This causes a flood of small meteors that are released into space. They are visible in all directions. Some showers are more stunning then others. The best time for watching.
Perseids are the most beautiful and powerful meteor shower of the year. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle created it. Although it will be visible from the Northern Hemisphere due to the high rates of fireballs within the Southern Hemisphere, it is worth watching from there.
There are four major meteor showers each year. The Quadrantid is the first, and is known for its brief but powerful maximum. Another notable for its unique surges is the Lyrid. A Geminid is famous for being approachable.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia is one of the most popular holidays in the ancient city of Rome. In the middle of February, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was conducted. During this rite it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on an altar beside the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was filled with the animal’s blood. It was believed that it would be beneficial to the crop by increasing fertility and protecting the crops from damage.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration that was held in honor Ceres the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented from the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia was among the most well-known Roman festivities. These celebrations were originally held in honor of Mars, the godof war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two parts to each day: morning and afternoon. The nundin lasted eight days. The remainder of the year was comprised by the remaining 29 days.
