February 14th
Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love and passion that is observed every year on February 14. The holiday’s beginnings can be traced to the Middle Ages, a time where sacraments and courtly love were all the rage.
It was a day to celebrate romance between lovers during the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was a day when it was customary for friends and lovers to send gifts, flowers and cards.
In the first decade of the 19th century, commercial cards were accessible. Postcards printed in bulk gained popularity. Themed displays of these postcards were put up in stores.
Gifting your special someone a chocolate or candy present together with an arrangement or card, is a traditional Valentine’s Day tradition. You might even choose to give them jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. It’s also a very popular holiday in Canada however, Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
The belief in the superstition of Pennsylvanians Dutch people gave rise to the celebration. German immigrants brought the practice of forecasting weather to the United States. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
When scientists discovered that mice hibernate in winter, they established the foundation for this custom. The goal was to predict the coming six weeks of the season based on observations of how the animals responded.
Groundhogs belong to of the Sciuridae Family of small hairy mammals. They hibernate throughout the winter months. Groundhog Day mornings are a perfect time to see them peering from their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight, which falls on the third Monday of February, is regarded as a national holiday. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day served as a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
While it is a federal holiday , not all states observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents at the same time, whereas other states only recognize only one president. But, Presidents’ Day is now widely accepted as a day to honor the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There is a long and complicated story that explains Presidents Day. The Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the holiday. Today the Presidents’ Day holiday is the official title.
Washington’s birthday is an incredibly well-known and not officially recognized holiday, as well as Washington’s Day. It was declared a federal holiday in late 1870s. Congress approved the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteors and storms
Each year, Earth’s orbit revolves around the sun. A torrent of small meteors are released into space. They are visible in the sky and are all over the sky. Certain showers are more impressive than others. Nighttime is often the best moment to view.
Perseids are the most powerful and beautiful meteor showers of the year. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle is to blame. While it is not visible from the Northern Hemisphere due to the huge fireballs observed within the Southern Hemisphere, it is worth watching from there.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky each year. One of them is Quadrantid. Its short , but massive peak is what makes it the most well-known. A different one that stands out for its distinctive surges is The Lyrid. The Geminid is also known for its attractive appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia was a well-known celebration in the ancient city of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was observed in February. During the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar in front of the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was filled with blood of the animal. It was believed that it would be beneficial to the grain crops by ensuring fertility and securing them.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented as far back as 202 BC.
Other famous Roman celebrations include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. These celebrations were originally held to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two phases of each day: the morning and the afternoon. Nundin was a collection consisting of 8 days. The remaining 29 days were the remainder of the calendar year.
