February 14th

The tradition was born out of superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. German immigrants introduced the practice of forecasting weather into the United States. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog that makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
The story began when scientists discovered mice that were hibernating throughout the winter. The idea was to predict the following six weeks of the season by studying how animals reacted to climate.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae which is a small group of mammals that have hair. In winter, their primary job is to stay in hibernation. Groundhog Day is the most frequent day that they are in view from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday in February is Presidents’ Daylight. It is an official holiday for the United States of America. It is a day to pay tribute to to the previous American presidents. Presidents’ Day has historically been a day to honor both Washington and Lincoln.
While it is a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states recognize the presidents of both countries, while others only recognize one president. The Presidents’ Day holiday is now widely accepted as a means of honoring all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
Presidents’ Day has a convoluted past. Washington’s Birthday was the first name for this holiday.
Washington’s birthday is a well-known and not officially recognized holiday, as well as Washington’s Day. In the late 1870s, it became a national holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed by Congress.
Storms of meteors
Every year, the Earth passes through its circle around the sun creating an explosion of tiny meteors to fall into space. They are visible all over the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. The best time to view them is in the evening.
The Perseids meteor shower is among the most impressive and largest of all the meteor showers. This is due to the fact that the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was responsible. It will be visible from Northern Hemisphere. But, considering that the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most spectacular fireballs, it is logical to look at the phenomenon from the Southern Hemisphere.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky each year. The Quadrantid is the first, and is famous for its short but intense maximum. The Lyrid Another one is renowned for its peculiar surges. The Geminid is also known for its attractive appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia celebration was very well-known in the ancient city of Rome. The cleansing and fertility ceremony was held during February in the middle. During this rite it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on an altar beside the Lapis Naiger. Blood from the animal was poured in the hearth. The grain fields were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first recorded in 202 BC.
Neptunalia was among the other well-known Roman celebrations. The celebrations were initially planned to celebrate Mars and the god of war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two phases to every day: morning and afternoon. The nundin lasted eight days. The rest of the year was made up by the remaining days.
