Free Calendar March 2023 – Many holidays that are fun and memorable are scheduled for February. They are all observed throughout the month. Examples of these holidays include Valentine’s Day or Groundhog Day, Presidents’ Day, Groundhog Day or meteor showers. In addition, there are a myriad of ancient Roman celebrations that take place on various days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day, a day which celebrates love and love, is celebrated annually on the 14th of February. It can be traced back as far as the Middle Ages, when love was more popular than sacramental and courtly.
It was believed to be a day of celebration that honored love between romantic partners and close friends during the 14th century. On Valentine’s Day, it was customary to send cards, flowers and presents to each other.
Commercial cards were introduced in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk was also growing. These cards were a hit in retail stores as themed displays.

Groundhog Day, which is observed on February 2 every year, is an annual holiday. Even though it’s a big deal in Canada, Thanksgiving is a American holiday.
Superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch people contributed to the celebration. German immigrants brought the tradition of weather forecasts into the United States. Punxsutawney Philip is an Pennsylvania groundhog, offers meteorological forecasts for the remainder of winter.
After scientists found out that mice hibernated in winter, they set the basis for this practice. It was designed to predict the next six weeks by studying how animals respond to weather conditions.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae tribe of small hairy mammals. In the winter months, their principal goal is to go into hibernation. On Groundhog Day is when they can be observed peeking out of burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as an American holiday that falls on the third Monday in February. It is an honor to all previous American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday has been a time of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s a federal holiday many states don’t observe it. Some states honor both birthdays of presidents on the exact same day . Other states only honor one. Although Presidents’ day is now a common thing, it allows us to remember the names of all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
It has had a complicated story. Washington’s Birthday was the first name of this celebration.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known unofficial holiday. In the 1870s, however, it became a federally recognized holiday. Congress passed the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Each year it is the time when the Earth passes through its orbit around the sun, creating an explosion of tiny meteors to explode into space. They are visible everywhere. Certain showers are more impressive than others. The best time for watching.
Perseids are among the most impressive and spectacular meteor showers in the entire year. This is because Comet 109P/SwiftTuttle is the culprit. It will be seen from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the most intense fireballs and astrophysical activity, it’s also worth to see from that region.
Four major meteor showers take place every year. One of the most famous meteor showers is the Quadrantid. This one is known for its brief but very powerful peak. Another one is the Lyrid. It’s famous for the odd surges it produces. The Geminid is also well-known for its friendly appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia holiday was very well-known in the ancient city of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was held during February in the middle. During this rite it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on the altar next to the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was stuffed with the blood of the animal. It was thought that the hearth could provide fertile soil and protect the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Since 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations have been recorded.
Neptunalia was one of the most popular Roman festivities. The celebrations were originally celebrated to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks had eight days. There were two periods to every day: the morning and the afternoon. A nundin was an eight-day collection, with the remainder of the year comprised of 29 days.
